Your Complexion & Your Diet

Did you know that your complexion (the condition of your skin) is related to what you eat? It is!

What you put into your stomach can have a positive or negative affect.  Foods with higher fats or sugars can give you acne or cause you to breakout.   If you eat too much of a certain type of vitamin you can even get a rash on your body. 

For example, if you consume enough carrots (bare in mind one would have to eat an insane amount of carrots) you could turn a slightly orange color from the vitamin C.  However, don't let that discourage you from eating foods with vitamin C. Fruits and vegetables with high vitamin C levels have been known to clear up some acne and make skin more radiant.  Avocados, blueberries and even dark chocolate are known to be beneficial for the skin because of the high antioxidant levels. 

So next time you're hungry, maybe instead of Doritos pick up an orange.  Your complexion will thank you!
