Teen Weight Loss Diets

Because teens and preteens are still growing, it's really important that any diet plan they follow cover their nutritional needs for good growth. Weight Loss Diets for adults are not designed to meet those needs, especially "crash" diets, diet pills, and diets that have you eat very limited types of foods!

What is recommended for people under the age of 18 is that they follow an eating plan for maintaining their weight, and follow a program that increases their physical activity rather than just cutting back a lot on calories. This will help them become a better "calorie burner" as well, and this will help to ensure that they get their nutritional needs met while they reduce body fat and build muscle.

Custom Diets are designed by diet and nutrition experts -         registered dietitians. Each diet is designed to give your child or teen a very well thought out program giving them very specific amounts of good foods to eat. The focus is on choosing foods that are lower in fat, especially saturated fat (animal fats, processed fats, etc). This habit alone has been shown to be especially helpful in maintaining healthy body weight, even without counting calories.  

In addition, the Custom Diets gives your child or teen a simple method to keep them on track so that they're eating the right quantities of foods so that is convenient and realistic to follow.

The biggest challenge for most teens can be dining out - restaurant portions are way too big, and fast food restaurants have extreme amounts of salt, fat, and calories in their foods. Still, there are some good choices that teenagers can make - they don't have to avoid eating with their friends, but can simply modify some of their choices.
